Mizani, M; 2005; A Study on the Production of Heat-Resistant PET Bottles; Food Technology & Nutrition, Vol. 2, No. 2, 17-26.
Abstract: Heat- Resistant bottles are usually made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and used for packaging of foods such as fruit juices and dairy- based beverages, which are often hot filled or pasteurized after capping. Since normal PET, stretch blow molded bottles can not withstand the temperatures above 65ºC-75ºC , and starts to become soft, special techniques should be used to modify the heat stability of PET bottles by increasing the crystallinity of the polymer. These techniques are included crystallization of neck finish and heat setting of bottle. It is also helpful to use special design for the heat- stabilized bottles.
